New South Bay Art Gallery to Showcase Hollywood Bowl Inspired Art

The South Bay's newest art venue is the Cause and Effect Art Gallery, which opens on Saturday, August 28, 2004 with the highly anticipated re-launch of the Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2004 -- The South Bay's newest art venue is the Cause and Effect Art Gallery, which opens on Saturday, August 28, 2004 with the highly anticipated re-launch of the Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project.

The Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project is a collaborative effort of more than 80 artists to remember the fourth and longest-running Hollywood Bowl shell, which was taken down in the fall of 2003. The new Hollywood Bowl re-opened on June 25, 2004.

Artists have created original works of art on pieces of the large "champagne bubble" spheres that were installed in the Hollywood Bowl shell by architect Frank Gehry in 1980. Artists participating include: Guy Dill, Ed Moses, Kenny Scharf, and Robert Toll. Special celebrity artists include Hollywood legend Tony Curtis, Jane Seymour, and Lori Petty. Many other highly respected artists as well as new discoveries have contributed to the project.

The Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project was first exhibited for a brief introductory run at Track 16 Gallery in Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, CA from June 22 – July 2, 2004. The show received such rave reviews – and attracted a record-breaking crowd of more than 3,000 to its VIP opening at Bergamot – that the exhibition is now back by popular demand, with several new pieces being commissioned for the extended exhibition.

The Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project has been organized by Global Branding Group, a Torrance-based marketing company under contract with the County of Los Angeles. Global Branding Group has launched the Cause and Effect Art Gallery as a contribution to the artistic and cultural landscape of the South Bay. The Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project is just the first of many unique art exhibitions to run at the new gallery.

10% of the proceeds from the sale of the art will be donated by Global Branding Group to Heart of Los Angeles Youth (HOLA), a local non-profit organization that offers fine arts, athletic and education programs to more than 1,300 underserved school-aged children.

The Hollywood Bowl Sphere Art Project exhibition runs from August 21 – October 31, 2004 at the Cause and Effect Art Gallery, 1765 Oak Street, Torrance, CA. Phone: (310) 533-1859. Gallery hours starting August 28 are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm, and Sundays noon to 4 pm.

More information is available on the Hollywood Bowl Art & Collectibles website at www.hollywoodbowlart.com or the Cause and Effect Art Gallery website at www.thecauseandeffect.com.
