Five-year contract includes 24-7 monitoring for Department of Citywide Administrative Services

Freeport, NY (PRWEB) March 2, 2008 -- New York Merchants Protective Co. extended its reach to New York City government agencies today when it announced a new five-year agreement with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).

Under the new contract, NYMPC will be the exclusive provider of Fire Alarm Monitoring and maintenance for system signaling and transmission services for dozens of DCAS buildings through 2013. DCAS currently operates city buildings throughout the five boroughs of New York City.

We're pleased to be able keep these facilities running safely with our state-of-the-art monitoring systems and highly trained personnel.
"The Department of Citywide Administrative Services is crucial to the day-to-day operation of both NYC and the entire State of New York court system," says Wayne Wahrsager, president of NYMPC. "We're pleased to be able keep these facilities running safely with our state-of-the-art monitoring systems and highly trained personnel."

NYMPC is one of only a handful security contractors permitted to monitor fire alarms in the City of New York. Its 24-hour monitoring center is linked directly with New York Fire Department dispatch headquarters, allowing it to share signals and communicate seamlessly with emergency responders throughout the city.

The new partnership with DCAS gives NYMPC nearly total market share of fire alarm monitoring for government agencies in the City of New York. NYMPC already provides monitoring and other vital fire alarm services to several city departments, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation (HHC) and NYC Department Homeless Services (DHS), Department of Human Resources (HRA), Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) among many others.

"With millions of New York City residents relying on DCAS and its divisions every day, the security and safety of these buildings is a number-one priority," says Wahrsager. "Our FDNY-approved monitoring station ensures that these facilities are always connected with the technology and people trained to respond to all types of emergencies--fire or otherwise."

DCAS employs more than 2,000 people throughout New York City, providing critical resources and services to many city agencies, as well as recruiting, hiring and training city employees. The Division of Facilities Management and Construction, one of several DCAS divisions, maintains one of the most extensive and prestigious public building portfolios in the country, including the national historic landmark City Hall building, Manhattan Supreme Court Houses and more than 50 other city-owned buildings.

New York Merchants Protective Co. will begin monitoring DCAS buildings on March 1, 2008.
