PHX ModelCenter® Multidisclipinary Design Optimization (MDO) framework leveraged to create cutting-edge aeronautic design technology

Wayne, PA (PRWEB) March 20, 2008 -- Phoenix Integration, aerospace and defense industry leader in process integration and design optimization software, will team with M4 Engineering, Signal Hill, CA and California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly), San Luis Obispo, on two separate research initiatives contracted through NASA's Aeronautic Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) program to develop tools for the design of the next generation of quieter and cleaner air vehicles.

Phoenix Integration will collaborate with M4 Engineering and Cal Poly, respectively, to develop the next phase of multidisciplinary design, analysis, and optimization (MDAO) tools for overcoming current research challenges in multidisciplinary subsonic and supersonic aircraft design.

These research contracts will enable Phoenix to further innovate its MDAO toolset and, in turn, equip engineers with the tools and techniques necessary to evaluate and create radically new air vehicle designs.
Phoenix's PHX ModelCenter® software, the industry standard in multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) frameworks, will be leveraged by MDO experts at M4 Engineering and CalPoly to create and deliver the next level of physics-based MDAO tools and techniques that will boost NASA and industry capabilities, including: more accurate modeling of interdisciplinary systems, more accurate prediction of performance, and improved evaluation of benefits and risks.

"NextGen aircraft must adhere to stringent noise and emissions regulations, meet rigorous performance and safety requirements and remain economically viable," explains Dr. Scott Ragon, Director of Research at Phoenix Integration. "These research contracts will enable Phoenix to further innovate its MDAO toolset and, in turn, equip engineers with the tools and techniques necessary to evaluate and create radically new air vehicle designs."

Research resulting from Phoenix Integration's collaboration with M4 Engineering and CalPoly will help NASA and the aerospace industry at large to serve the public by enabling the design of quieter, more fuel efficient and environmentally-friendly airplanes.
