His presentation is titled "Delivering Sustainability Off the Grid: Central Gas Systems." In developments located off of the natural gas grid, central gas systems provide the best dual-fuel solution to facilitate sustainable development. Applications range from traditional residential appliances to full-scale energy and fuel delivery solutions for entire communities, including commercial, retail and fleet vehicle applications.

In 2007, HBH was a finalist for the Land Development Today Visionary Project Award for contributions made toward sustainability by their Central Gas System at The Resort on Eagle Mountain Lake near Ft. Worth, Texas. Central Gas Systems provide underground piped gas that is individually metered, serviced and billed just like natural gas. Compared with the large capital cost of extending natural gas infrastructure to their communities, developers and builders who partner with HBH Gas Systems enjoy substantial cost savings. Furthermore, these developers and builders have the ability to offer gas service in virtually any location, affording them a distinct marketing advantage over competing subdivisions that have been built all-electric.

Gas contributes to strengthening the three pillars of sustainable development. From the economic standpoint, gas yields substantially lower electric bills for homeowners - heating a home with propane costs about half as much as using electricity. Socially, gas improves living standards through increased comfort and convenience. From the environmental perspective, gas allows communities to drastically decrease their pull on the electric grid. Just one home fueling its space and water heating energy requirements with a Central Gas System in lieu of electricity effectively offsets the carbon emissions of an average vehicle.

HBH Gas Systems has developed, designed, and installed central gas systems in residential communities and commercial developments throughout the US and abroad. HBH is committed to facilitating sustainable development worldwide by bringing gas to regions where it was previously unavailable. HBH Gas Systems is the largest independent provider of Central Gas Systems in the world.
