Prometric Japan Signs Exclusive Contract with CTC for First Time Global Delivery of Certified Ruby Programmer Exams

Baltimore, MD., and Tokyo, Japan (PRWEB) April 21, 2008 -- Prometric Japan and Itochu Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC) have signed an exclusive contract for the first ever computer-based global delivery of the Ruby Association Certified Ruby Programmer Examination (RA Cert Exam). Ruby is an objected oriented script language or programming for any platform based on Java.

Available in Japan in computerized format since February, global access to the RA Cert Exam will begin in late April via Prometric's network of test centers in 135 countries. Offering the RA Cert Exam through Prometric test centers gives candidates thousands of options when choosing where to take the exam and enables them to see their test results immediately.

As the designer of Ruby, this is beyond what I ever imagined. However, as Ruby has spread in the marketplace, the need to secure skilled Ruby engineers has surfaced in the corporate world and in every region. You can say that a gap has been exposed between Ruby, as a community-based development, and the demands of enterprises.
The RA Cert Exam, created by Ruby Association chairman Yukihiro Matsumoto (Matz), encourages engineers to achieve a greater knowledge of Ruby and popularizes systems development using the language. Candidates who pass the exam will be certified by the Ruby Association, an organization for the popularization and growth of Ruby.

The administration of this Credential Certification Exam will be carried out by CTC, a company with a long track record in developing open systems. CTC, contracted by the Ruby Association, has been promoting Ruby and its use in systems development through its Ruby educational programs.

"In the last few years there has been growing interest in Ruby within the enterprise market," said Ruby Association Chairman Yukihiro Matsumoto (Matz). "As the designer of Ruby, this is beyond what I ever imagined. However, as Ruby has spread in the marketplace, the need to secure skilled Ruby engineers has surfaced in the corporate world and in every region. You can say that a gap has been exposed between Ruby, as a community-based development, and the demands of enterprises."

He continued, "The Ruby Association aims at bridging this gap between enterprises and the community. With cooperation from CTC, the Ruby Association has been providing the "Ruby Association Certified Ruby Programmer" to help skilled engineers prove themselves and to allow companies to have a means of assessing engineers' level of competence. Thanks to Prometric, this exam can now be administered as a CBT, which can be easily taken anywhere with immediate results. With this CBT, my hope is that the "Ruby Association Certified Ruby Programmer" will be more effective in helping engineers and companies."

Tomofumi Matsubayashi, CEO of Prometric Japan, stated, "Prometric Japan has been 'the choice' for computer-based IT testing in Japan for many years, and is pleased to have been awarded a global distribution contract for Ruby Programming Certification. It is a major milestone for Japan to prove that local certifications are in demand and can be distributed globally to support a growing IT market. We hope there are many more to follow."
