East Aurora, NY (PRWEB) July 2, 2008 -- Homes for Our Troops, a Massachusetts based 501 (c)(3) organization that provides specially adapted homes for our most severely wounded veterans, announces the completion of its East Aurora, NY Project for Marine Lance Corporal Mark Beyers.

LCpl Mark Beyers, 27, from Elma, NY, was injured on foot patrol, when an IED exploded in Hit, Iraq, on August 26, 2005. The injuries he sustained were the loss of an arm and a leg. His right arm had to be amputated, including his shoulder and collarbone. His leg was also amputated below the knee. Mark spent several months recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, with his wife Denise, who was also in the Marines, by his side. Mark had to undergo over 20 surgeries and many fittings for his prosthetic arm and leg.

Homes for Our Troops has provided special adaptations, such as a wheel chair accessible master suite; a roll in shower; automatic toilet; ramps; and lowered countertops; all of which allow Mark and Denise to continue to live in their home.

LCpl Beyer's home is the 28th project that Homes for Our Troops has completed since it's founding in 2004. 26 projects are currently underway throughout the country, including a project in Marcellus, NY for SGT Jeffrey Guerin.
